National Data:

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)—Information about annual national and Medicare and Medicaid expenditures.

Healthy People Project—Data focused on preventable disease.

FedStats—Official statistics from the federal government, including but not limited to healthcare.

U.S. Census Bureau—Updated annually, this data provides information about general demographics of the U.S.

National Center for Health Statistics—National Center for Health Statistics with the goal of improving the health of population.

State Data:

State Master—Pulls information from other national and state databases for integrated data.

State Health Facts—Sponsored by the Kaiser Family Foundation, data focused on state-level health.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality—Research focuses on delivery high quality healthcare.

Hospital Compare— Reports publicly available data about hospital quality.

Nursing Home Compare—Evaluates nursing home on a variety of metrics.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality—Research focuses on delivery high quality healthcare.

Becker's Hospital Review—Focused on the business of hospital and health systems.

Health Affairs—A journal focused on health reform, costs, and innovation.

Kaiser Health News—Journalistic news on healthcare policy and politics.

The Commonwealth Fund—Independent research on healthcare issues.
